Funtana

Funtana, a settlement and municipality, is located 6 km south of Poreč, along the coast of the bay between Poreč and Vrsar. Surrounded by gentle hills, dotted with vineyards, olive groves, and pine and oak forests that often reach the sea, Funtana enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate that has spurred its strong tourist development.

Formerly known as Fontana Georgiana, Val de Fontane, Fontane di Pace, and Portus Fontane, Funtana got its name from a spring near the sea, called Perila, where women used to come to wash laundry. The picturesque village, elevated on a hill next to the castle and parish church in the early 17th century, was founded by the nobleman Borisi. The castle fortress in Funtana is now a protected cultural monument.

The first themed amusement park in Croatia, Dinopark Funtana, stands out for its uniqueness and unusual character, offering visitors a walk along a one-and-a-half-kilometer path with moving dinosaurs. This amusement park offers various attractions, including adrenaline rides, spectacular shows, and encounters with life-sized moving dinosaurs.

Today, Funtana is recognized as one of the favorite destinations with numerous accommodation options along the coast from Zelena Laguna to Valkanela. A diverse range of hospitality facilities, campsites, hotels, and various events provide an authentic Mediterranean experience.
