Oprtalj

The town has a distinctly medieval character and was inhabited since Roman times. First mentioned in 1102 as Castrum Portulense, when it came under the rule of the Aquileian Patriarch. Already in prehistory, it was inhabited, and a prehistoric castle - gradina developed on it. At the top of the hill, in the square, stands the parish church of St. George, a late Gothic three-aisled building with a polygonal apse, built by Master Stjepan from Kranj. It is rich in Baroque sculptures and paintings from the 17th-18th centuries. Next to the church was the municipal palace, while the most valuable church is St. Mary's, which houses a cycle of four painters from the second half of the 15th century.

Livade, known as the Truffle Center of the World, are located in the heart of the Mirna Valley. Every year during October, the "Tuberfest" takes place here, an opportunity to discover and taste Istrian white truffles and other Istrian products. Zrenj, located about ten kilometers from Oprtalj, is a place with a rich history and natural beauty. Here you can visit the church of St. George with a bell tower and enjoy the natural beauty and local cuisine in agritourism facilities.

Istarske toplice, located near the Motovun Forest, are known for the healing waters of St. Stephen. This highly sulfuric and warm radioactive water, rich in minerals, has been proven to help treat various health problems, such as rheumatic diseases, dermatological diseases, and respiratory diseases. Their natural healing properties make them one of the highest quality thermal springs in Europe.

The rows of cypress trees at the entrance and exit of Oprtalj enchant with their beauty, reminiscent of Tuscany, while the town itself exudes a mystical allure like Motovun and Grožnjan, offering visitors picturesque scenes and an ideal destination for an active nature retreat.
