Fažana

Fažana, a settlement and municipality just 8 km from Pula, shares an area of 13.86 square kilometers with Valbandon. It is known as the departure port for the Brijuni Islands, a national park with attributes of earthly paradise. It's an ideal place for relaxation and recreation, whether it's a family outing, a romantic getaway, or adventurous exploration.

The name Fažana traces back to ancient times, associated with the Roman civilization, bearing witness to the rich history of this place. Apart from its port, Fažana is also known for its production of amphorae, leaving a lasting imprint on the history and identity of the town. La rondinella, the shortest and narrowest street in Fažana, got its name from swallows, as legends of old Fažana claim that only they could fly through it. The parish church of St. Cosmas and Damian, built in the late Gothic style of the 15th century, is abundant in cultural treasures. The interior is adorned with five marble altars, while the walls conceal remnants of frescoes from the 15th century. Adjacent to it is the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Carmel, a smaller church from the 14th century, which also preserves valuable works of art.

Today, Fažana offers diverse tourist attractions, including beautiful beaches, numerous restaurants with excellent cuisine, and opportunities for active relaxation and exploration of untouched nature. Visitors can explore ancient Roman remains and villas that shaped the history of this area, while nature lovers can enjoy walking along the coast, watching sunsets, and inhaling the scent of sea salt.
