Marčana

With an area of 131 km2 and a coastline stretching 36 km, it offers a tranquil retreat from the summer crowds. The area exhibits typical characteristics of the "Red Istria," with a Mediterranean climate, while its residents engage in traditional agriculture alongside service-oriented professions.

Historical traces date back to 1243, and the settlement has undergone various authorities, including the Venetian Republic. At the heart of Marčana stands the Parish Church of St. Peter and Paul from the 15th century, along with the memorial "Tri brista," dedicated to anti-fascist fighters.

Near Marčana, there are several attractions worth mentioning. Stari Rakalj offers castle ruins and the church of St. Agnes with a splendid sea view. Murovan boasts remnants of the Histrian hillfort and the church of St. Mary Magdalene. Budava, a bay on the southeastern coast of Istria, allures with its peaceful atmosphere and seafood farming.
